Your baby is so beautiful!

(Just thought I should introduce myself, since this is my first comment). I'm Kate, from NZ. I found your blog through another midwifery blog, a little while ago.

Congratulations on your lovely baby!

Mianh,
Your girl is an utter beauty. I'm curious, however - perhaps I'm only speaking for myself, but those of us reading your blog some months back had pretty much no clue at all that you were pregnant, especially since we were following the tales of your midwifery studies with such deep interest. Is there a reason, apart from a desire for privacy (which is totally understandable) why you didn't reveal this on your blog?

Please forgive me if I am being a nosy parker. Congratulations on becoming a mother.

Love
Carla

Claire - the cloth is going really well! It's been good to have a wide variety to play around with as some work better in some situations than others (and sometimes I totally miss the mark with messy results). I could probably write a dissertation on my findings at the moment. . . if only I had the time & audience, eh?

Carla - if you go back and read my May 12th post you may notice the title G1P0 which in obstetric terms refers to 1 gestation, 0 births and of course, refers to me being pregnant! I try not to get too overtly personal on this site because it's a public expression of some aspects of my life, but for those who are midwifery/birth minded, I definitely made an announcement (read the comments on that post and you'll see what I mean). Here's another personal tidbit - people in my life often refer to me as a 'dark horse' and I admit I just like being a little vague until things are pretty obvious :)

and to everyone - thanks for all your lovely comments as usual!

Aha! *kicks self* Doh! I see what you mean. I must have been half-asleep when I read the May 12th entry.

And, by the way, your being a 'dark horse' is precisely what makes your musings so magnificently interesting to read. Overly candid and self-explanatory prose would destroy the poetic beauty of your blog.

Thanks for your response to my probing.

Love
Carla

that G1P0 title went completely over my head, that's for sure... i had no idea... =)

it's funny that it should come up that you are a 'dark horse'... even though we haven't been in touch for a few years, i think about you (as i think about all the people who have been/are friends and who i respect and enjoy)... and i check in here... the funny thing is that i had a dream just the other night in which i was holding your baby and you were telling me about some parts of your life that you don't write about here... that i wonder about occasionally...

she has such beautiful deep-dark eyes!

take care,
kathleen
